An elevator pitch is a short overview of your project, in our case 5 minutes. The name “elevator pitch” is often used in scenarios where entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to potential investors. The idea is that one should be able to deliver the core summary in a short time span, no longer than the time it takes to ride an evelator with such a person. The key of a good elevator pitch is to be able to communicate the unique aspects in a clear, concise and exciting way. Each group should select one person who will provide a 5 minute "elevator pitch" in class. This should give a high-level overview of your project and its goals. Think of this as giving a pitch to a VC or other person that you are trying to get funding or sell the project. There is no need to discuss money; rather this should be focused on garnering the interest in an attempt to proceed to more discussions. And you will be cut off if you go over the 5 min allocation. Most groups in the past have used slides, though this is not necessary. If you do use slides, email them to the instructors and TA the day before the presentation. |
