There will be 4 or 5 assignments to be completed by the end of week 6. One of the assignments will be a programming lab, of about 2 week’s duration. The others will be shorter pencil and paper assignments such as: thought experiments, word problems or critical analysis of the readings. Any programming work (lab or course project) should be done in teams of 2. If you want to work alone we can discuss it. I encourage you to discuss the written assignments with your classmates, however, the writing and the development of the your ideas must be your own.
The course project starts during week 3. Projects may be done in individually, or in teams of 2. The project will culminate in a final presentation during week 10 and a final report. There will be 4 additional milestones: an in-class project proposal (start of week 4); an in-class progress report (week 6); a written progress report (week 8) and a written progress report. I will post instructions for each project milestone early in the quarter.
Late assignments will not be accepted, except for the programming lab and the term project report.
The programming lab will be accepted up to 3 days late; a 5% penalty will be assessed on day 1, and the penalty will double for each successive day after the assignment is due. The same lateness policy applies to the term project report.
