Course Overview and Prerequisites:
Implementation with computer-aided design tools for combinational logic minimization and state machine synthesis.This Lab course covers software and hardware projects. The course runs concurrently with CSE 140.

Grading
The final grade for this course will be assigned as following:
- In class participation via clickers 5%
- Homeworks (5): HW1 (0%), HW2 (10%), HW3 (10%), HW4 (15%), HW2 (15%)
- Final 45%
Final Exam:
The final exam will take place on 09/08/2017 from 11:30am to 2.29pm.
Homeworks
Homeworks will be assigned to help prepare students for exams. Students are required to solve them individually and turn them into TED prior to the beginning of the class.
Homework Grading Policy:
Each homework except homework #1 is assigned on Wednesday and is due on the following Wednesday. Students can complete their assignments either individually or in teams of two. Before the end of Wednesday, students should meet with a tutor or a TA to "checkoff" the homework. For this, students will meet one-on-one with a tutor or a TA and present their solution. In case students are working in pair, they have to meet together at the same time and demonstrate that they equally shared the work between them. Also, they will obtain the same grade, which will be the lowest between the two. The checkoff procedure includes explaining the problems and the implemented solution, reviewewing and explaining the code, verify compilation, verify functionality. Each homework will include a list of what is expected during checkoff. The tutor or TA will file a report of this interview for each student, then TAs and instructor will convert this into a numeric grade. Students are also required to submit their source code to the instructor and TAs before the "checkoff" takes place.
Academic Dishonesty
As students in this offering of CSE 140L, you are expected to know and abide by the UCSD Policy on Integrity of Scholarship (as described in the Student Conduct Code in the UCSD General Catalog), the Jacobs School of Engineering Student Honor Code, and the course policy described here. Please take a few moments to read and review these policies. Homework must be completed individually. All exams and quizzes are individual effort. Dishonest behavior will not be tolerated during an exam. Since you are expected to complete all homework and exams by yourself, you will be held responsible even if you plagiarize only a small portion of someone else's work. Furthermore, providing your work for others to copy is also considered as academic dishonesty. Any student violating UCSD's Academic Dishonesty or UCSD's Student Conduct policies will earn an 'F' in the course and will be reported to their college Dean for administrative processing. Committing acts that violate Student Conduct policies that result in course disruption are cause for suspension or dismissal from UCSD.
