CSE 20: Discrete Math

Update: Here is a PDF document listing errors found in the Epp book after it was printed. You can check here if you think something might be wrong (for example, one of the answers in the back). An even better idea would be to go through the whole thing and mark each error in your book now, before you encounter any problems.

5.3: 1, 5, 6, 13, 25, 26
5.4: Read about Alan Turing (Wikipedia is far from perfect as an academic reference, but it will suffice for our needs here). You should be somewhat familiar with his 3 distinct contributions (Halting Problem, WWII/Enigma, Turing Test). No need to understand the details, but know what these are. Also, review Russel's Paradox (the barber problem) in the book enough that you know what it is. (Wikipedia has a nice writeup about the Halting Problem if you'd like to learn more about it--this is MUCH more detailed than what you need to know for this class. Halting Problem will be covered in more detail in CSE 105.)
