Lotus 1-2-3 Upgraded To Version 1.2

Lotus 1-2-3 has been upgraded so that the popular spreadsheet program now supports a Motif graphical interface as well as OPEN LOOK. The licensing has been changed so that only Sun consoles (running X11R5 or OpenWindows) and X-terminals are able to run Lotus 1-2-3.

A separate license may be purchased in order to run Lotus 1-2-3 from an ASCII terminal, contact csehelp for more info.

Change your PATH variable (usually set in the .cshrc file) to reflect the new location for Lotus 1-2-3 binaries:

Before running Lotus 1-2-3 for the first time, it is necessary to run setup123 in order to select the 1-2-3 interface:

To invoke Lotus 1-2-3 if the display option is None:

If either the X Window or Motif display options are selected, 1-2-3 can be invoked as a background job:

If the OPEN LOOK interface is selected:

Lotus is installed on odin, the CSE administrative computing system, but may be used from any CSE Sun 4 system running SunOS 4.1.X. At this time, only one license is available for general use. The lmstat -a command can be used to check the status of the nonreserved Lotus 1-2-3 license: There is a new User's guide with this release of Lotus 1-2-3 which describes the OPEN LOOK and Motif interfaces. A copy is available for perusal in the CSE Business Office (Joanna Mancusi, AP&M3240.) An online copy of the release notes are also available in: Cindy Paloma--Supervisor, CSE Systems Support Group
