Abstract

Rehearsing talks alone can be frustrating. While Powerpoint allows you to record talks and review them, it does not remind you of points you have missed during a slide. Given the advances in NLP, Powerpoint should not only record your talks, but it should process your speech to dynamically check if you have addressed all points of each slide before moving on.

My Talk Coach turns any notes you have written in the Notes section of each slide as well as textual content in your slides into a checklist of points. As My Talk Coach listens to your rehearsal it converts your speech into text and checks if your speech is synonymous to any of the points. If it is, then it checks off the synonymous point. In addition, given annotations in your notes section, My Talk Coach can treat your points as an ordered list and find ordering violations.

If you prefer, My Talk Coach will interrupt you if you have moved on to the next slide without addressing some point in the checklist, or if you have presented ideas out of order. Alternatively, in Observer-Mode, My Talk Coach will not interrupt you, but will present the missing points only at the end when you wish to review your rehearsal. Finally, My Talk Coach judges your enthusiasm, your sense of humor, and the crispiness of your talk. After each rehearsal round it will provide you with a score. If you score high enough, you can earn gold stars which you can print on to Stickers (My Talk Coach blank stickers can be purchased separately).
