What would help domain scientists integrate and analyze large, diverse scientific datasets?

We examine two very different approaches:

  1. the heavyweight solutions that are emerging for e-commerce; and
  2. the lightweight solutions that are currently used in labs.
We then suggest an approach to reconciling them.
