Ben Ochoa received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of California, San Diego, in 1999, 2003, and 2007, respectively. In August 2013, he joined KBR (formerly Centauri, Integrity Applications Incorporated (IAI)) as the chief technologist of computer vision, and was named a Technical Fellow in 2019 and appointed a Sr. Technical Director in 2021. Since January 2014, he has also been a lecturer at the University of California, San Diego, primarily teaching computer vision and computer graphics courses. From 2008 to 2013, he was the vice president of research and development at 2d3, the Engineering Emmy Award winning sister company of the Technical Achievement Academy Award winning company Vicon. During most of this same period he was also a visiting scholar at the University of California, San Diego. From 2007 to 2008 he was the chief engineer of research and development at Vision Robotics. Prior to joining Vision Robotics, he was the chief engineer of research and development at Sonaray, a 3D dental imaging company. From 2000 to 2006, he was a senior engineering specialist and manager in the Photogrammetry Research Group at BAE Systems. In 2004, he was awarded the BAE Systems Chairman's Gold Award, BAE Systems' highest award for technical achievement worldwide, for his contributions in image and video registration.
