Individual Project Guidelines

Your individual projects are due the last day of class, March 12. To get credit for your project, you will need to turn in to the instructor (Berman) and your project supervisor a 4-5 page report of what you did on your project and the results you obtained. Your participation on the project and your report will be graded by the instructor and your project supervisor.

Please develop a 1-2 page set of milestones for your project with your project supervisor. These are due February 5 in class. Your milestones should describe in some detail the goal of the project, what steps you will be taking to achieve that goal and estimates of when each step will complete. Note that things are often harder than they seem so be realistic about the milestones and times you set for yourself. You should also include additional work that you and your supervisor plan if time allows.

Your report should describe the following things:

• What is the problem your project addressed?

• What approach/techniques did you use to address the problem?

• What results did you get and what is their significance? (What do they mean? Why are they useful or important?)

• What was your experience with the project? What difficulties did you have? What did you learn?

• What would likely follow-up projects be? What additional information would they provide?
