Things to see and do in London

  • St. Bartholomew the Great.
    Church dating back to 1123. A large part of the Church was razed during the Reformation and the church fell into disrepair. The church was at one time the site of a printing press. The old doorway into the former nave survies, and there is a timbered, Tudor era gate house above the doorway. Near this spot William Wallace met his maker in 1305 (see the nearby marker) Heretics also met their fate here Look for the statue of Henry VIII that was erected in front of St. Bart's hospital in the early 1700s
  • Southwark Cathedral
  • Jean Cocteau wall art in Notre Dame de France French Church (5 Leicester Pl, Leicester Sq WC2)
  • Take a walk along the Canal from Camden Lock through Regent's park to Little Venice
  • Heading East on Old St, look on the south side of the street for a surviving gate of the Old City of London
  • Look for traces of Roman Wall on Noel St (East London) [As told by a taxi driver]
  • Post Office Square (plaques to "ordinary people" who did remarkable things, according to Chris)
  • Shopping.
  • Brook Street and side streets off of Oxford St near Selfridge's (There are also cafés)
