CSE 141 Homework Assignments
Winter 1999, Instructor: Dean Tullsen
Homework Assignments:
HW#1: Due Tuesday, January 19
-
Patterson & Hennessy, problems 3.2, 3.5, 3.9, 3.16, 3.17, 3.19, 2.1,
2.4, 2.8 (ignore the cost-effective part), 2.13, 2.18, 2.20, 2.32, 2.41,
2.42
NOTE:
Chapter 2: Problem 2.13 has an ERROR in table on page 92 IN SOME
BOOKS. The value in the "CPI on M2" column for Class C should be 3,
not 8. This has been a confusing issue. However you have done the problem
-- just write down the table values you used and we will grade your
answer based on those values. Contact Beth (esimon@cs) with questions.
Chapter 3: Problem 3.19 -- Be sure to read the explanation for this
problem that starts on page 201 ("In More Depth"). Also, be aware that
the following are valid instructions in a stack-style architecture:
-
dup --no operand specified, copies the top stack element into the second
to top stack element
-
neg --no operand specified, negates the top stack element
