Basics

There will be quizzes every week. They will occur on Thursdays at the beginning of class. There will be no quiz week 6 (that will be the midterm - but on Tuesday).

There will be one midterm and one final exam. They will cover all the assigned reading, lecture material, and assignments up to the class period BEFORE the exam (eg, the exam is on Tuesday, material up through the previous Tuesday is fair game). Exams must be taken at the scheduled time, no exceptions.

All quizzes and exams are closed book, closed notes, no calculators allowed.

The midterm exam will be on Tuesday, Week 6, Feb 10, during the normal class time, in the normal lecture room

The final exam will be on Tuesday, March 17 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm -- the room will be announced later

Awww, weekly quizzes!?!?!

I don't give weekly quizzes because they are fun for me to grade, I give them because it gives you the excuse to study and keep up with the material and the chance to determine for yourself if you are really understanding the material to the depth that we expect.

Quizzes cover the material since the last quiz, and are a bit easier than exam questions. Quizzes are held the first 10 minutes of each Thursday class and will usually be graded and returned no later than lab on Wednesday.

Your lowest quiz grade will be dropped. So if you have to miss a Thursday class, that will be the quiz grade that you will drop.
