Scores

Scores are available online at Gradesource.

Exam policies

For all exams, you may not use books or notes. You may, however, use a calculator.

Quizzes

The quizzes will be at the beginning of class on days 3, 5, 7, and 9 and will consist of several of the homework problems assigned for that day. For example, the quiz on Day 3 will be comprised of several of the homework problems assigned for Day 3.

The lowest quiz score is dropped. The remainder are equally weighted and worth a total of 15% of your grade.

Projects

The projects will be worth 30% of your grade.

Midterm

The midterm will be held at the beginning of class on the assigned day. The midterm is worth 20% of your grade.

Final

The final will be held on the Saturday of the last week: July 30, from 8-11 AM in Center 216. The final is comprehensive (covers material from the entire quarter) and is worth 35% of your grade.

Regrades

You have the right of appeal for grading on all tests; however, an appeal (except for addition errors) covers the entire test, and may result in an unfavorable judgment on another problem. You have one week from the time the tests are returned to make appeals, including addition errors on your score. Check it over carefully when you get it. Appeals must be made in writing and turned in to the TA.

Grades

A final overall percentage score will be calculated based on the weighted average (weights as specified above) of the scores earned on exams and projects. This percentage score will be used to determine a final letter grade based on the following initial grading scale:
90%-100% A
80%-89% B
65%-79% C
50%-64% D
<50% F

Pluses and minuses will be attached to the letter grades as the instructor deems appropriate.

Depending on the difficulty of the particular projects, midterm, and final exam, your grade may be higher, with a maximum adjustment of 10 points (e.g., a D may go down to 50). This possible adjustment may or may not occur (if you want to be sure of an A, get at least 90% overall). This possible adjustment is not open to discussion or questions. Do not bother asking; nothing more will be said on the matter.
