There will be three (3) tests required for this course. The first two (2) tests will be given in class, and will occur at the first class of the third and the fifth weeks. Each of the two midterms will contribute 30% to the final grade, while the cumulative final will contribute an additional 40%. The final will take place during the schedule of the final of this course. There will be no make-up tests given for any reason. To get credit for the exam, attendance during the scheduled time period is required.
Sometimes you get a grade that you don't like, either because I added up the points wrong or because you think I evaluated you wrongly. If you believe that a regrade is needed, tell me immediately. You can appeal the grade you received until the next exam date. After that I will assume that you believe the grade that you received is the correct one.
Integrity:
"Statement of Academic Integrity: Students are expected to do their own work,
as outlined in the UCSD Policy on Academic Integrity published in UCSD General
Catalog. Cheating will not be tolerated, and any student who engages in
suspicious conduct will be confronted and subjected to the disciplinary process.
Cheaters will receive a failing grade on the assignment or the exam and/or in the
entire course. They may also be suspended from UCSD."
Cheating WILL be taken seriously. It is not fair to honest students to take
cheating lightly, nor is it fair to the cheater to let him/her go on thinking
that is a reasonable alternative in life. Don't test me on this one!
