How to make a mux with as many inputs and outputs as desired: 1. Start LogicWorks. 2. Go to the Tools menu and select DevEditor 3. Draw a box using the box on the tool palette in the upper right hand corner of the DevEditor screen. 4. Draw the input pins in groups of 10 (for a n way 10 bit mux). Draw n groups of 10 pins. For simplicity only use powers of two for the number of groups. (i.e. 1,2,4,8,16,... etc) 5. Draw the selector pins - as many as you need to select between the n groups. 6. Draw the enable pin. (if you do not use a power of two for the groups, you cannot use an enable pin) 7. Draw the output pins. 8. Double click on the first pin in the list of pins on the far left of the DevEditor (It should say 'PIN1') A box will pop up with the name of the pin. Rename all of your input pins to be INN,M where N is the group number beginning with 0 and M is the pin number in that group beginning with 0. 9. When you get the the selector pins use S0,S1,...etc 10. The enable pin should be called EN 11. The output pins should be labeled OUT0, OUT1, OUT2... 12. As you go through make sure that the input pins are set for input and the output pins are set for output. This is determined by a list pick called pin function in the box where you can rename the pins. 13. It is very important that the pins are defined in the order above. 14. Go to the DevEdit menu and select 'Subcircuit & Part Type' On that screen pick 'Set to primitive type, Use with caution!' Then pick 'MULTIPLEXOR' from the list pick that appears. Click ok. 15. Save your device. 16. Use your device. Reference material which could be helpful can be found on page 425 of the LogicWorks 3 book in the lab.
