Overview

CSE 140 is an undergraduate course in Digital Design Techniques. It must be taken together with CSE 140L. The goals of the course are:

To understand the digital hardware abstraction and basic logic gates
To understand the theoretical underpinnings of digital design: in particular the application of Boolean Algebra and Finite State Machines in the design of Combinational and Sequential Logic Circuits
To understand the digital components and building blocks that make up the microarchitectue of modern computers

Course Policies

2. Homeworks

Students are encouraged to talk to each other, to the course staff, or to anyone else about any of the homework assignments. However, each student must write out his or her own solutions to the homework.

Late Policy: 10% deduction for each day until the solution is posted.

3. Exams

Exams will be take-home for a period of 48 hrs. It is open-book and internet search is permitted. However, students are not allowed to discuss with anyone else.

4. Integrity and Scholarship

Each student is responsible for knowing and abiding by UCSD's policies on Integrity of Scholarship and the Jacobs School Student Honor Code.

5. Enrollment

The enrollment is managed by the CSE Department. The instructor welcomes every student but has no control of the enrollment
