How to Run the Students Example

This example shows a form that allows to insert, update and delete student entries

In order to setup this application on your computer please follow the steps below.

Assumptions

• You are working on an Microsoft Windows PC.
• You have JDK 6 or higher installed on your PC.
• You have set up your Development Environment

Load Reference Schema to SQL Server

To create the relation for this example please run the following script using either of the following two options.

• SQuirreL SQL GUI client
• Generic web based client

Setup Your Own Web Application

• Create a new web application in the Tomcat's folder, e.g. c:\program files\tomcat 6.0\webapps\cse132b and deploy the following jsp file.

Please use these guidelines on how to setup your web application folder.

• Edit the students.jsp file to replace the username and password to connect to the database.
• Run Tomcat and test the your web application example by typing the following URL in your browser:

http://localhost/NAME_OF_YOUR_APPLICATION/students.jsp

You should be able to insert, update and delete rows from your Student table.
