Homework 1 and JFLAP Instructions

Instructions for running JFLAP on ieng6:

Either connect to ieng6.ucsd.edu using SSH, or log into one of the computers in the basement labs running linux and type the following commands in a terminal:

$ prep cs105s
[cs105s] $ jflap &

Instructions for submitting Homework 1 on ieng6:

Again, either connect to ieng6.ucsd.edu or log into one of the linux computers in the basement labs. Ensure that your DFAs for problem 1 are in files name 1a.jff, 1b.jff, 1c.jff, and 1d.jff. You may submit your writeup for problems 2 and 3 either electronically as a pdf file (NO doc or docx files), or printed out at the beginning of class on 4/16. To submit the electronic part of the assignment, copy your files to ieng6 and then type the following commands in the directory containing your .jff files:

$ prep cs105s
[cs105s] $ zip hw1.zip 1a.jff 1b.jff 1c.jff 1d.jff writeup.pdf        # leave off writeup.pdf if you turn in a hard copy
[cs105s] $ turnin -c cs105s -p hw1 hw1.zip

   source file date:   Mon Apr 13 12:50:43 2009
   source file size:   123456 bytes

Please check to be sure that's reasonable.

If you get a response from turnin that is not basically the same as the response above, send email to wgmatthews@cs.ucsd.edu with your hw1.zip attached and the response from when you ran turnin. You should be able to use the tools at https://sdacs.ucsd.edu/~icc/index.php to look up your account for ieng6 if needed.
