How to creat a Xilinx account?

An account on Xilinx website is required to download the softwares we need. Creat a Xilinx account here.

How to download and install Xilinx ISE WebPACK ?

Go to http://www.xilinx.com/webpack/index.htm
Type in your username and password if necessary
Xilinx offers two types of installation: make sure you download the ISE WebPACK - Single File Download, which is 1.4GB
Go to this link to download the latest service pack 9_1_03i_pc.exe (468Mb)
Install the WebPACK 9.1i first, then the service pack. After installation, launch Xilinx ISE, go to menu Help->About Project Navigator, make sure your version is 9.1.03i.

Note: The CSE basement lab only has ISE WebPACK 8.1.03i installed. The lab assignment can be done in both 8.1i and 9.1.03i. However, TA tested all the labs in only 9.1.03i.

Now, you are ready to be a hardware hacker!
