Students will be required to carry out a class project, which will have four deliverables that will be due at various times during the course. The project must be done in groups of from 3 to 5 students.

The deliverables are: project plan, requirements, design, program and testing.

Each project group must find a customer for their project. Examples include employers, customer organizations, membership groups (e.g. sports clubs, church groups, social groups).   In coming up with a project you must take into account that you only have 10 weeks for the entire project.

Deliverable one: planning and scheduling

(Due date: Due the short time frame forthe project, this deliverable will be due the third class meeting, Thursday, 10/7/99

The planning document should contain the following sections.

1. Scope
    Goals, major functions, system components

2. Size and effort estimates
    Historical sources
    Size estimation - LOC
    Effort estimation  - man/months

3. Risk management
    Project risks
    Risk Table and RMMM plan for each risk
4. Schedule
    Task breakdown
    Task network
    Gannt chart

5. Organization
    Team shtructure
    Team member responsibilities

6. Tracking and control
    Methods to be used - e.g. tracking table
    QA methods to be used (leave this blank for now since
        we have not yet covered them in class)
