Course Policy
The course requires attendance at the lecture. The lecture will cover a) a brief review of the theory relevant to the lab assignment and b) a discussion of the lab and its practical aspects. Mr. Bayraktaroglu and Ms. Yuceturk are TAs for CSE 140L. Mr. Bayraktaroglu's email is ibayrakt@cs.ucsd.edu. Ms. Yuceturk's email is yuceturk@cs.ucsd.edu.
There will be five (5) labs required for this course. They will be due in approximately 2 week intervals. While the first lab is mandatory to turn in and unsubstitutable, you can drop the lowest grade on any of Labs 2 through 5. Additionally there is going to be a final exam for CSE140L, testing the proficiency that you have acquired in your lab course. There will be no make-up tests given for any reason. To get credit for the exam, attendance during the scheduled time period is required. No make-up tests will be available.
All labs are due at 5:00 PM on the Fridays outlined. We will continue to accept labs until 8:00 AM of the following Monday; late labs though incur an automatic penalty of one third of the total points. After Monday 8:00 AM, no more lab reports can be accepted; any labs turned in after Monday 8:00 AM receive a grade of zero.
No student shall engage in any activity that involves attempting to receive a grade by means other than honest effort. Each student is responsible for knowing and abiding by UCSD's policies on Academic Dishonesty and on Student Conduct. Any student violating UCSD's Academic Dishonesty or UCSD's Student Conduct policies will earn an 'F' in the course and will be reported to their college Dean for administrative processing. Committing acts that violate Student Conduct policies that result in course disruption are cause for suspension or dismissal from UCSD.
Sometimes you get a grade that you don't like, either because we added up the points wrong or because you think we evaluated you wrongly. If you believe that a regrade is needed, tell us immediately, otherwise the following Statute of Limitations will apply:
| You have one (1) week from the day any particular graded exam is made available to you to appeal the grade you received. After one week, I will assume that you believe the grade that you got is the correct one. After one week, grades are unchangeable, fixed and permanent. |
