I realize that contingencies may arise that could cause you to miss a
quiz or exam.  However, if you miss a quiz or exam you will receive a
zero unless you properly notify me as follows, AND I AGREE that a
makeup is warranted.

If your absence is planned, i.e.  you have a midterm during section,
then you must notify me of your intended absence at least 24 hours in
advance of the quiz.  If you notify me after the quiz, you will
likely receive a zero unless I feel that there are mitigating
circumstances. Note: notifying me does not guarantee that I will
permit a makeup, but is a prerequisite step.

In the case of an illness, I must receive a note IN WRITING from your
doctor.  Naturally this won't happen until after the quiz or exam date,
but contacting me the day of the exam or quiz is helpful.

For other emergencies be sure and contact me when you can.  We may
need to meet in person.

If you have any questions about this policy see me during office
hours.  If necessary you may pass word on to me via Jeanne Milostan.
However,  I will make all decisions regarding the appropriateness of
granting a makeup.
