Lab 12 Instructions

In this lab we will be going over a tool called concordion, which allows you to turn relatively simple html code into junit tests. After setting it up we will be work with the basic tests for JOIN and PART for comparison to those tests you wrote in junit.

Part 1: Acceptance Testing with Concordion

  1. Download acceptance.tgz and extract it inside your project root directory (something like ~/workspace/<PROJECT_ROOT> depending what you named it when you checked out your project).
  2. Tell Eclipse to use the spec directory as a source folder (like src and tests are).
  3. Add all 3 of the jar files under lib/concordion to the build path, like the other jar files are.
  4. Right-click on spec and run it as a JUnit test.
  5. In a Web browser, open the resulting HTML file, called something like /tmp/concordion/edu/ucsd/cse70/ircclient/Acceptance.html.
  6. Make sure your code passes the tests. You may need to modify the test cases, but please confer with the teaching staff before doing so.
  7. Update, make sure all tests still pass, and commit before you leave.

You can tell Concordion where to puts its output files by supplying the concordion.output.dir system property. To do this in Eclipse, edit the launch configuration and add the VM argument -Dconcordion.output.dir=classes (to place the output in the classes directory, for example).

Part 2: Adding more Concordion acceptance tests
