CSE 140L Hardware Lab One

Objective

In this lab, you will learn to build gray-code encoder and decoder. You will also learn to build a 7-segment display encoder

Part 1. 7-segment display

Given a number between 0 and 9 as input, output the 7-segment display code (Simplify all variables but "D" in the 7-segment circuit).

         input/ output
         wxyz abcdefg
         ------ ------------
         0000 1111110
         0001 0110000
         0010 1101101
         0011 1111001
         0100 0110011
         0101 1011011
         0110 1011111
         0111 1110000
         1000 1111111
         1001 1111011

Part 2. Construction of a Combinational Logic for the Gray-code ENCODER

Design a combinational logic circuit that converts three-bit binary code counter to three-bit gray-code counter (Gray Code ENCODER)
