Exam policies
For all exams and quizzes, you may not use books, or calculators.
For the final exam, a double-sided 8.5x11 page of handwritten notes is allowed.
Quizzes
The quizzes will be at the beginning of class each Thursday,
except for November 10 (Midterm 2) and November 24 (Thansgiving)
and will consist of several of the
homework problems assigned for that day (covering material from the previous week).
For example, the quiz on September 29th (Day 3),
will be comprised of several of the homework problems assigned for that day (covering material from the
first day of class).
The lowest quiz score is dropped.
The remainder are equally weighted and worth a total of 14% of your grade.
Midterms
The midterms will be held on the assigned days (see the Schedule).
The midterm that you did better on is worth 25% of your grade,
the midterm you did worse on is worth 15% of your grade.

Regrades
You have the right of appeal for grading on all tests; however, an appeal (excep
t for addition errors) covers the entire test,
and may result in an unfavorable judgment on another problem. You have one week
from the time the tests are returned to make appeals,
including addition errors on your score. Check it over carefully when you get it
. Appeals must be made in writing and turned in to the TA.
Grades
A final overall percentage score will be calculated based on the weighted averag
e (weights as specified above) of the scores
earned on exams and quizzes.
This percentage score will be used to determine a final letter grade as follows:
| 90%-100% |
A |
| 80%-90% |
B |
| 65%-80% |
C |
| 50%-65% |
D |
| <50% |
F |
Pluses and minuses will be attached to the letter grades as the instructor deems
appropriate.
