Research
I am a fifth year Ph.D. student at UC San Diego under Scott Baden. My current work is on a Computational Database for scientific applications.
About
I have a wide variety of interests within computer science: from Networking and systems to programming languages and parallel computing. I also have a strong interest in math, logic, and philosophy. I completed two Bachelors degrees in Computer Science and Philosophy from the University of Washington, in Seattle.
Non-academic interests include fencing, which I started in the fall of 2007 when I arrived at UCSD. I used to fence Épée on Saturdays in the Rec Gym. Fencing time has mostly been replaced with rock climbing. We have some great local gyms in San Diego and some great outdoor locations, including Mt. Woodson, Santee Boulders, and Mission Gorge. I have also recently picked up homebrewing, brewing a wide variety of new beers. I recently brewed a beer for my friend's wedding. I'm planing for and experimenting on making a wood-aged cherry stout for another wedding next year.
