I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California San Diego. Currently I am working under the direction of Dr. Laurel Riek.
During Summer 2016, I worked as a Cognitive Robotics Intern at IBM Watson Lab. There I developed a method for robots to detect human head and hand gestures and to incorporate those understandings in human-robot conversational contexts. I also designed a neural network based multimodal data fusion model to help a robot to make appropriate decisions during a conversation.
Before joining UCSD, I was a PhD student at the University of Notre Dame. Prior to that I received the M.Sc. in computer science from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and the B.Sc. in computer science and engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). I worked as a Senior System Engineer in the leading telecommunication company (GrameenPhone Ltd.) in Bangladesh.
