I am a faculty member in the Artificial Intelligence Group. My current research focuses on applications of machine learning to problems in computer systems and security. For these problems I work closely with faculty in the Systems and Networking Group. For the academic year 2011-2012, I am co-chair of Gradcom, the departmental committee on graduate student affairs. I am currently Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Machine Learning Research. To prospective students: I apologize for not being able to answer individual emails regarding graduate admissions. All applications are reviewed carefully by the department admissions committee, and admitted students are typically supported by research or teaching assistantships.
