FOA: The hyperText (FOA:hT)

This set of pages is designed to provide a primarly textual version of the Finding Out About materials, together with the primary hypertext links connecting these sections to one another, and especially connecting them to others' bibliographic and WWW resources.

It is also important to say what FOA:hT is not:

• By design, these pages are missing all figures and many of the equations. At least in the current implementation of l2h.py, many LaTeX codes also make it through, and there are a number of other glitches, too.
• It is not the same HTML version of FOA that Cambridge University Press has developed for inclusion in the FOA CDROM: the CUP version will have all figures and nicely set mathematics, etc.
• This text is not the final, corrected proof copy. The pages were generated from the LaTeX source I provided to Cambridge University Press (in January, 2000), using a homegrown Python utility I call l2h.py.
• For all the reasons above and then some, it is not intended to supplant the textbook!
