Historical and Conceptual Foundations of Cognitive
Science
Fall 2001
Information for Speakers
TIME AND PLACE
Your talk is scheduled for Friday, from 2:20pm to 4:10pm, in the Cognitive
Science Building on the UCSD campus in room 003. This room is on
the lowest level of the building, on the east side. The building
is number 397 on this map.
I'll be moderating a separate discussion meeting open to registered
students only, in the same room from 12:40 to 2pm. Speakers are welcome
to participate in this meeting, or not, as they prefer,
My office is a few minutes walk away in the APM building, number 249
on the map, room 4856 on the 4th floor, phone (858) 534-8897.
TALK FORMAT
The main talk is scheduled for 110 minutes, from 2:20pm to 4:10pm, but
there is no need to use the whole time available. Please make the
talk interactive, and leave time for discussion at the end of the talk.
Several UCSD faculty in cognitive science will attend, and many students
and faculty will be happy to engage in wide-ranging debate. Because
this seminar series is meant to be the major interdisciplinary event in
cognitive science at UCSD, do try to spark conversation, even controversy,
during and after your talk.
LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS
Let me know what type of projector (overhead or computer) you need
for your talk, and if you need a VCR and television, or any other equipment.
Let me know if you need a parking space reserved. If so, it will
be in Lot
206, known as the "faculty club parking lot." Use the Muir College
Drive entrance to campus. Turn east into the west side of the campus
from North Torrey Pines Road.
