Stanford University is adjacent to the city of Palo Alto, on the San Francisco peninsula.
The San Francisco Bay Area is served by three major airports: San Francisco International (SFO), San Jose International (SJC), and Oakland International (OAK). Of these, SFO and SJC are about equally convenient to Stanford; OAK is farther away.
For those continuing to Crypto, United Airlines has direct flights to Santa Barbara's airport from both SJC and SFO. In addition, Santa Barbara is a pleasant 5-hour drive from Stanford by US 101.
