Administrative Staff
It is anticipated that our current faculty headcount of 39 will
increase to a steady state of 50-55 by the year 2010. If concomitant
staff funding is provided, department-supported administrative staff
could increase from 10 to 16, and research-supported administrative
staff from 2 to possibly 6. Critical spatial issues needing
consideration to efficiently support administrative staff
responsibilities for the faculty and administration are:
- Consider adjacencies within the administrative unit to address the
need to coordinate/support cross-functional responsibilities and
projects, a space that promotes our organizational
structure/functions to and for the faculty.
- Recognition of the record retention, both current and long-term,
required for administrative functions.
- Confidentiality to facilitate confidential conversations and
insure privacy of the records maintained.
- Maximize location in the building to facilitate interaction and
efficiency.
- Ability to have the space remain flexible enough to align
current/future goals with resources to efficiently manage growth and
change.
- Consider location for research-funded administrative support
staff.
