The UCSD Computer Systems Laboratory (CSL) conducts research in
operating systems and computer networks. Emphasis is given to
high-performance systems, such as high-speed networks and workstation
digital video. Contemporary topics being investigated include
mechanisms for fast I/O (and IPC), new kernel structures supporting
predictable performance, scheduling disciplines for real-time
communication, group (multicast) communication mechanisms, and
protocols for mobile wireless networks. The overlapping research
groups within CSL study the integration of these various areas.
