CSE 80 -- Lecture 9 -- Feb 4
Topics went over in class today;
- Noted that the standard deviation formula given in class was
missing a square.
- awk versus nawk, user-defined functions and
built-in arithmetic functions, with a digression to Newton's method
for approximating the square root if using an old version of
awk (e.g., awk on Solaris) without the arithmetic
s,^\([ \t]*#[ \t]*include[ \t][ \t]*<\)\(.*\)>,\1<a href="file://localhost/usr/include/\2">\2</a>\>,
' < "$1"
<!-- extra footer stuff -->
- The viewpoint that c2html as a type converter,
converting a C program into an HTML view of the same program.
- The compilation process as a type conversion, converting C/C++
programs to relocatable object files and relocatable object files to
executables. Undefined external references, relocation, link editing
(ld automatically being run by cc -o).
- Dependency graph. Example: main.c, globals.h,
and utils.c source files, where both the C files includes the
.h file. The generated relocatable object files
main.o and utils.o depend on their respective
.c files as well as the header file globals.h. The
final executable, main, depends only on the two .o
- make syntax. make
macros (looks like shell variables, but are not). make
dependency rules encoding the dependency information.
