IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
NOVEMBER 26, TUESDAY: YUCHUNG WILL PRESENT ON FUTURE OF IP
WE WILL HAVE ONLY ONE PRESENTATION BY EACH STUDENT.
FOR YOUR FINAL PROJECT, YOU CAN DO MORE DEPTH STUDY ON ANY INTERNET RELATED TOPIC, ADD A GOOD DOSE OF YOUR ORIGINAL THOUGHTS, MAKE IT ALL INTO A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION AND SUBMIT IT TO ME BY DEC 7 2002 BY EMAIL AND PUT PRINTED VERSION IN MY MAILBOX OR UNDER MY OFFICE DOOR.
PLEASE EMAIL YOUR PRESENTATION SLIDES to Venkat@cs.ucsd.edu – NEEDED FOR ASSIGNING GRADES
Extra class: Tuesday,
November 12,
Please note that we are meeting in APM 4301 until we get a different room assignment – since originally assigned room of APM 5218 cannot accommodate 20 people.
Actually, we have been allotted York Hall 4050/A. We might have to move to this room very soon.
We are planning to cover the following topics. The topics may change a little bit as we progress during the quarter, since this is the first offering of this seminar/course. Each topic will consist of study of about 2 research papers and 2 commercial products, and two students will be responsible to
go in-depth for each topic, and each student will be responsible for two topics.
Grade will consist of the following:
Two presentations of 20 points each, each presentation of 40 minutes given by individual student on a topic below (consisting of material from relevant research papers and white papers about commercially deployed products).
original creative work in an area of interest to the course, and a well-written paper describing this work (should be of same standards as those that are usually submitted for publication in a research conference): 60 points
